hi guys someones just reversed into me and caused a little damage to front bumper
its mainly just scratches that will polish out however round the bmw badge the paint has cracked so i think it will need some paint work. looks like spiders legs around the badge. also the metal around the kidney grill is a little bent leaving a gap between the grill and the body. i think that would go back in place quite easy. so am just wondering does anybody have a ruff idea how much this would cost to put right. thanks

Someone reversed into mine a while back too.

According to him the scratches didn't matter as they were "barely visible" and the misaligned bumper "wasn't really noticeable".

Mind you my parked and empty car must have been "barely visible" too as he had to reverse back about 35 feet to hit it!!

When offered the option to pay cash or go through insurance he waved me away saying talk to my insurance company.

So I called my insurance, they helpfully (and reasonably efficiently) sorted it all out including contacting the independent witnesses, arranging a hire car at their preferred repairers for when I dropped the car off for an estimate which they then approved and authorised the repair.

So the damage:

1 * repair at £687 +vat ( anamazingly high cost IMHO the damage really was minimal though I guess they removed the front bumper?)
1 * 8 day hire of a Mercedes C180 (extended due to a £25 bracket for behind the bumper wasn't available in stock!)

He'd have been a lot better off paying cash I reckon & I have a letter from the insurance confirming a non-fault accident with no impact on next years premium which, I guess, remains to be seen.

£250 is exactly what i have been quoted. dont think the guy wants to pay because he wont answer my calls lol. looks like am gonna have to go down the insurance route.

front bumper on a hired 530GT was 470 inc VAT and a recent repair to a F11 525 front bumper was £430 inc VAT al at BMW paint shop.

Hi mate yeah I have give his insurance company a call and made a claim. Getting the damage assessment done on Friday. Have to wait for his side of the story before I can get it fixed but the insurance company are also struggling to contact him. I just hope when they do contact him he is honest.

Re-paint is probably £250 or so.

+1

Had a bumper respray and a few other bits touched up, on my Mazda3, after I picked it up and it was about that.

Insurance company have got in contact with me and the other guy has admitted he is at fault. Can't wait to get it sorted now. They have estimated the damage 800-950 lol
