AUX – Working but lost bass!

Hi,

Installed the AUX cable from In-Car Tunes (the one with the circuit board fitted)

AUX works fine and is visible on the head unit but all bass is completely gone from the sound.

I know this is because of the resistors/capacitor that is soldered onto the circuit board but these are needed so that the head unit will pick up the AUX option.
From what I have read if I remove these the bass is fine but in the Z4 this would mean that the AUX is not picked up right?

Does anyone know how to get around this?
Is it possible for the dealer to force the AUX option to appear so that I can remove the resistors/capacitor?

If the resistors and capcitors are all correct you should still have plenty of bass sounds like its running out of phase. i would send it back and order one off ebay. I made my own up using the correct value resistors/capacitors it worked great most of the time but due to me not being able to source a proper plug the pins I had used worked loose on the headunit size and it would do exactly like you said... bass would go with echo effect/phase issue.
 
I believe it happens when the ground is lifted.... you could try running a piece of wire from the metal on the aux plug to a negative/ground point on the car. My favourite is the metal edge/bezel of the cigar lighter. Another way is to charge your phone as that usually grounds it too.
 
I made my Aux cable based on a schematic of the BMW cable and my bass is fine. You've either got a dodgy cable or just a bad connection. If you want to open it up and check, the capacitors should be 0.22uF and the resistor 300k. For the record I used a 330k on mine and that works fine as well ;)
