Aux socket

I'm after the aux socket from the panel above the ashtray - or indeed, the panel complete with aux - coming with cable and connector to head unit.
Anybody got one by any chance?

There are 2 being broken, so it might be worth asking on those threads.

Otherwise this looks like what you need:- https://www.amazon.co.uk/VGEBY-Auxiliary-Female-Adapter-Auxillary/dp/B07D56X5PX/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=bmw+z4+aux+in&qid=1557862799&quartzVehicle=16-184&replacementKeywords=aux+in&s=automotive&sr=1-1-spons&psc=1

Neither of those two being broken have one :(
That Amazon link looks interesting, but seems to be a loose wandering lead - not sure how it would fit as a plug in the panel.

You would just need to drill a small hole. There is a treaded nut that holds it in place. Couldn’t be easier.

Well in that case...
I did wonder about that, but I didn't think it looked like that in the photo - need to go to specsavers! :oldman:

I was looking at these when I got my early facelift car that didn't have one in the dash.

But then I found someone had retro-fitted one in the glovebox, which saved me a job! :)

A bmw dealer also fitted mine in the glovebox. Took me ages to find it

Might have one, aux built into the panel, let me know if you still require one? Then I'll have a poke around :)

I've not ordered the Amazon one yet. So if you have one...

Don’t suppose you have a part number for this for me to try and get hold of one?

Assume one of these would be plug and play? Reading a few things about various aux retrofits, I’m starting to think a £4 option from China via eBay is going to need some fettling to be recognised by the stereo in order to activate aux mode.

I’ve also got a CD changer installed - does that complicate things?

No problem, you just remove the centre air vent to expose two screws that hold the radio/cd, remove multiplug in the rear, plug the aux lead it in the slot ready for it in the plug, refit multiplug to the radio and refit the radio. Once installed call up aux on the radio and play MP3 or phone through a 3.5 mm lead. You could leave the socket end floating under the dash somewhere or install into areas described above. I bought mine on eBay fairly inexpensively.
I find the quality isn't good from the aux input as the radio or CD player in the dash or the multidisc. Once fitted you'll have four options, radio, disc from radio, multi disc player or aux. The hardest bit is removing the centre air vents, look in the search option on the top left side of this page for help on this bit. Hope this helps.

You can see some part numbers on my photo... but I should actually still have this. I don't recall I had any takers so should still be available if you want? I'd do £40 collected?

To remove the vents I followed the instructions (using a very small flat screw driver) pushed the metal tabs (in the top of the vent down). I then used a coat hanger ( open to single rod, then bent a hook in one end). Slide the hook into the vent around one of the vent post then gently pulled the vents out of the dash.

Know it's been over three years... but any chance you're still looking to get rid of this? Looking to put an aux input into my 2006 Z4MR and cannot find the part number for the wiring harness this uses.

Hah! I still do have it actually. Although, I'm not too sure where it is (it's had 3 years to get lost somewhere). If you've no luck with [ref]wassup[/ref], I can try take a look for you over the weekend? :)
