Aux recommendation 'fruity car cables'

He did say he would reach out to those affected on here as I showed him the problem threads. Your issue sounds similar to mine and a replacement did the trick.
 
The Aux line in is no where near as clear / loud as the cd player, radio etc thats the head units fault not any cable!-
local bmw tech stated this when I went to order the bmw cable after having one from fruity (which worked fine just quiter than expected)
 
Just stuck one of these in the car.. On offer at 11.99 at the minute... First one didn't work at all, quickly sent out a replacement which i had next day, can't fault the guys customer service there.... All good this time... As mentioned the aux in is definitely a bit quieter but as my music is on my phone and i have the power amp app I just ran it through that and with a bit of tweaking on the apps equaliser soon had it booming out just as loud as normal... Top job :thumbsup:
 
I ordered a cable and Rory gave step by step instructions as I've never taken anything apart myself before! Works a treat and he was available on a Sunday night. Perfect and all for £12! Now can finally make use of Apple Music and I still have my cd changer!
 
Couldn't recommend these guys enough. Built up the wire and on an evening, and sent it free first class the next day. The product feels great quality and provides clear instructions to install. And even sent some Haribo in the package too!
 
I ordered one on the 7th and got a message 2 days later saying that the RM bag was wet. Victoria at Fruity Cables said she would mail one out the next day. I suppose they send it via Royal Mail Steamship...

I guess you're in the states? I presume it'll take a while to arrive. It'll be worth though, great quality product.
 
Hoping so. With BMW having proprietary HU/Amp combination, makes it difficult to swap out the radio for one with USB inputs. Rather costly to do the whole thing.
 
Just bought one of these as my current one is near enough dead for some reason. Hopefully it won't be a dud!
 
I had some issues with his cables, but he helped me install correctly and sent me through a new cable when I managed to feck mine up. A top bloke, give him chance.
 
Fitted mine today. Top quality cable and easy to fit.

Quick question though. As i already had a buggered aux lead fitted, I removed that, pulling it out of the connector on the back of the headunit rather aggresively.

The new one plugged in, but does it need to go into a black adaptor, or just slot straight in?

Reason I ask is because the old one was plugged into this black adaptor, but I cannot remove the smaller black connector (which the wires go in to) so I can only assume this came with the previous aux lead?

As you all know, the new lead comes with a small black connector, but I had to push this into the back of the headunit with a screwdriver to get it to work.

I hope i'm making sense. If not, i'll take a photo.

Anyway, cable works lovely, as does the supplied aux lead, although it's bright red with silver flecks on it. Very festive, but not very manly :lol: at least it works, unlike a spare black one I had that gave out awful sound quality.
 
To get the pins out, you need a tiny screw driver or cocktail stick to put the tabs on the side of the block, then you can add the new ones in. Take a photo first!

You can just do the pins straight onto the connectors, but they may touch giving interference.

A smaller plug is fine, as long as the pins are the same.
 
Update to my post.

The cable arrived from Fruity Car Cables (late, no doubt due to the Holiday cycle) and I installed it last night. Quality cable and worked marvelously. No noticable bass loss and Aux showed up as advertised. I have a cheaper cable with a 3.5mm input that I will be adding the capacitors and resistor to this weekend to see about its functionality, but this one will be as backup when my daughter wants to plug her phone in. I plan on exploring having the 3.5mm soldered into the iPod cable to work both aspects.
 
Just bought another one of these as the first one didn't work and I left it too long to complain (went on holiday for a couple of weeks, then forgot about it). The new one works perfectly and is well worth the money so it's a :thumbsup: from me.

Thought I best pop my head in on this. We seem to be getting good comments, still the odd issue but of course anything made or manufactured will have issues, its not always the product and can easily be an install mistake but we are here if that happens to help.

Anyone who's had an issue I always urge them to contact us, we don't leave people say in the dark, so Stu pop me a message via eBay and we will refund the cable. You purchased one item, you shouldn't be purchasing two to get what you required.

The Chritsmas postage delays seem to have eased, this years delay was exceptional so to those who ordered thank you for sticking with us.

Anyway, have a good New Year people.

I do have a couple of questions for you, if you don't mind.

1-Is the USB that came on my cable for re-charging or does it serve another purpose?
2-Have you considered using a 12-pin connector vice a 10-pin? This might ease some confusion as there are 12 pins (at least on mine there are) and provide a diagram as to which side to go on? (Side B vice C)

Hi Randell,

As I mentioned when uou purchased from eBay, you purchased an E46 product which is why you got the 10 plug

Our Z4 products come with 12 plug or BMW crimps if the car has Bluetooth or nav. The USB is purely for power supply yes, we were looking into other functions in future products and then Apple moved from 30pin to 8pin which is so limiting due to authorisation chip.
