Hi, i decided to try fix my AUX adaptor today. After 30 mins of trying to get the vents off, i finally managed to get the radio out and plug the AUX in adaptor (http://www.incartunes.co.uk/pc7-bmw-01-aux-in-adaptor-580-p.asp) into the back of the radio.

I connected everything back up expecting it all to work, plugged my iPhone in and i could not get any sound... how do i get the radio to AUX mode. The only options i have seems to be radio or CD... am i missing something here, thanks in advance for your help

if it is only showing Radio or CD then it isnt registering that the AUX cable is there.

The Stealers sold me a dodgy one. if you wiggled it correctly it would work and the aux option was there.

But if you wiggled it incorrectly then the option dropped off the head unit.

So sounds like a faulty cable then.

are all the pins in the correct position? there is a 'how to' build your own the pin out is given there

Another member bought the same cable and could'nt get it to work have a read through this thread.

10quid looks like a decent price for the cable compared to the BMW price.

Anyone comment on why that maybe didn't work? I'm tempted to try one...

(I'd need it to work with Carver Audio/DSP option) Intravee is working great, but I quite fancy having Spotify streamed to the car via the iPhone - this would be handy :)

i think mine was around 36GBP

You already have the makings of a diy job.

Strip back the cable you bought, check continuity on all components. then re-build according to the instructions on the how to

all you'll probably need is a couple of small components and a soldering iron looking at the link redzedfour posted

I have the aux connection not USB and have an iPhone. I take it if I set up a playlist and plug it in that's my limit?
Non use of wheel controls except for volume. The dealer did say they could fit an aftermarket parrot but this wouldn't work through steering wheel controls either. I declined. Cannae be ersed with phone while driving in private( get enough in works vehicle every day) would be good for iTunes using controls though!
Can this be done easily with little or no change to interior?

This is the BMW part no 65120153502
When I ordered mine I was "CLEARLY" asked if it was for the "Business radio" (which mine is), so dont know if it works on the other radio's.

Has anyone actually managed to get the cable to work by modifying it with the resistors etc...

I made my own cable using the how to guide as the aux in which came as standard on my car, 2006+ wasnt working and BMW needed the car for a whole day to try and fix it (rubbish styner for you)

mines in my car and it works perfectly each and every time :)
built from scratch for a few quid...

link's in my sig and if you need help, just ask.

I'm using this pre-manufactured cable (as mention in sk93's excellent DIY guide) and it worked perfectly first time and every time since:

http://www.incartunes.co.uk/pc7-bmw-01-aux-in-adaptor-580-p.asp - only £10 so a LOT cheaper than the BMW option.

I just couldn't be bothered being as hands-on as sk93 and was happy to waste a few more £££ and buy a pre-manufactured one :D
