Aux Input Issue

Hi guys, im likely being between naive and ignorant here so please forgive me, :o
I purchased an aux input panel from a forum member recently (excellent price I might add).
I took out my Business CD/Audio head and plugged in the pin block to the rear fixture (had to remove another lead to fit the aux input) but when flicking through the input options on the head unit, the aux does not appear?

Just the tuner or CD.,

Any ideas as to what I’m doing/done wrong? :D

Hi Thunderous One,
There should also be a resistor connecting the leads: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1523442. Some diagrams show also caps on both leads, but there are arguments that they degrade the sound quality.

cheers dude.
Just purchased another lead from eBay (Fruity Cables) for £14.99.
Apparently is basically a plug & play and will allow “aux” to appear in the head unit.

Not sure why my one does not do this, it even had a BMW stamp on the connecting block?

Oh well, I will see how I get in with this one.

Cheers for the response. :D
Have a good bank holiday weekend

Fruity cables should be ok, never bought one myself but there has been several positive comments on the forum.

Most of the cheap Chinese ones off eBay don't have the required resistor. That's what the radio recognizes (300k resistor) that you have the aux port installed.
