Aux In

I think you can fit an aux cable if you have nav, but you need to use the connector for the cd changer on the head unit so lose the use of it, which is why I've not decided to do this. Am I right, or have I misunderstood something along the way and denied myself an easy mod ?

Heh, lots of reasons to despise the head unit.
Bluetooth uses pins 6 & 12 on that connector, (plus 10 & 11 on big connector). If your wiring loom has wires in place where the aux cable connects, just splice on to the existing wires.
CD changer uses B connector, so no conflict there either. There's no option that would conflict with aux cable.

Here's the wiring diagram of the entire plug of the head unit as came with the cable I ordered via ebay.de (hence it is in German). The 'miniature' diagram already provided by Bcworks above is in fact a close up of plug C in this diagram:
Though the scheme is in German, you can easily see that a) all pins for the CD changer go into plug B b) the pins for the AUX are empty unless used as such. Pins for blue tooth, sat nav pro, etc. are all other pins than 3,4 and 10 in the C block.
So for all of you; this is really an easy mod (once you succeeded in removing the center vents that is) which does not affect any of the other functions of your head unit.

well mine came yesterday and i fitted it today.
seriously easy mod :lol: hardest part was getting the airvent's out.
the previous owner had already butchered them (and part of the brushed alu trim around them) so i didn't need to be careful. can't get them all the way back in now though :roll:
ended up routing it through to the ashtray as i didn't want to drill the plastic panel
and then hid the jack after i dug out my aux lead
works perfect big thanks to the guy who suggested it!

I'm good Craig, apart from the current issue with the Zed!
The Charger is still ongoing - it's incredible how long it takes to get specific parts! :'(

Is it literally just a case of plugging it into the HU, feeding the wire somewhere decent and slamming it into your iPod?!
I've got to do this then... Id like mine in the glove compartment like I did my last car, is this possible on the z4 do you think?
