Aux In Cable

Hi All

Just fitted the BMW aux in cable, to the socket on the head unit on my 2003 Z4,

I am unable to get the aux displayed on the headset,I thought it was a plug and play, what am I doing wrong

I recently installed aux in cable on my 03 as well and i had to try it 2/3 times before the aux display showed up on the headset. Try unplugging and plug it back in again.

You may require a cable with capacitors and resistors in order for the head unit to pick up the auxillary.
I used THIS ONE with the circuit board fitted in line for £17 delivered.
If you have satnav it may be different again.
The plug actually almost snaps into place so push it quite firmly.

IIRC it also only shows if there is something plugged in to the socket to provide tunes like an iPod...

What cable did you buy out of curiosity?
the one in the link above

You do get the Aux mode without anything connected to the lead,i've only used the OEM lead but other leads maybe different hope you get it sorted

Don't stress, just hook up a resistor and you'll be up and running

Guide for doing any cutting and resistor installation HERE :)

not always the case - mine was OEM and only appeared with something attached. They must've changed something on the radio...

I installed the BMW Mini kit, Part number: 82 11 0 153 367 (12 pin connector), in my 04 and the aux shows up regardless of the Iphone being plugged into the jack or not. The Mini Kit has bumps in the cable where the resistors obviously were installed....if you can feel bumps in your cable then you probably have the resistors. Without them the radio does not get triggered to Aux unless you plug in a device with enough resistance.
Be sure to plug into the correct pins on the rear of the radio...viewing from the rear the pins on the far bottom right. If your kit only has a 10 pin connector instead of 12 then be sure you are lining up with the correct set of pins.

Stromtech  . The Mini Kit has bumps in the cable where the resistors obviously were installed....if you can feel bumps in your cable then you probably have the resistors. Without them the radio does not get triggered to Aux unless you plug in a device with enough resistance.

Thanks all for your reply,s your spot on with the above, sent for new cable, with the caps+resistors :driving:
