Hi,

I just bought my cable but it won't work :headbang: .

Could someone tell me which pins need to plug? I have two quadlock plug back of the radio and I have plugged the cable one on the right (looking from the back of the radio).

But I'm not sure if the pins in the quadlock-plug are on the right place.

In this picture you can see the pins on the area C.

So which pins needs to be plugged?

Edit: If it matters the radio is CD business and the year model is 2003.

It's mainly about building your own cable, but step 9 clearly shows the pinouts you need.
You need to ensure the three pins in your cable are connected to the three highlighted pins on my diagram (the red, green and blue ones )

Hi Guys.

Great information on this - have bought part number 65120153502 and installed it BUT....

I have the sat nav in my Z4 and now there is no voice guidance. I've pulled the head unit back out and investigated, and the plug I had to remove to fit the aux cable, which I presumed was for the CD changer looks to be the one for the sat nav guidance, in that the pins in use on the existing plug are the 4 to the right of the ones in use on the new aux in cable plug.

I've double checked the part number with realoem and it looks to be the right part - the guy at the dealers also said it was the right part.

Has anyone fitted an aux cable to a Sat Nav enabled unit and did they have to perform surgery on the cable to mount the pins alongside the sat nav pins, or have I just got the wrong cable after all? I presume the CD changer is actually the white plug next to the one where this one fits?

Also, the audio is a bit patchy - there is no bass at all which is odd as there is a full stereo output. Suggests a phase issue, but could also be because its the wrong cable?

Any help much appreciated.

By the way - a much easier way of removing the air vents is to use a credit card. Insert it at the top of the vents and push down hard on each side and the vents pop out. 10 second job (after 40 minutes struggling with screwdrivers!).

You will have to remove the pins from one of the plugs and refit them into the corresponding holes in the other plug. I had to do the same when fitting mine - I too assumed that it was the cd changer, but it was the bluetooth on mine.

I have no trouble with the sound through mine :?

Ganet is correct, the Nav and Bluetooth use the same connectro as the AUX so as Gannet said just merge the plugs together, you can remove the connectors using a jewellers screwdriver or something similar so no cutting of wires required.

When I did mine I too lost the Nav Guidance, just took apart again & checked the pins, released what I did & it was fine again.

Thanks guys - bloke in the dealers said it was a straight swap and I'd lose the CD changer (no big deal as it stopped working and for the life of me I cant work out how to get to it behind the seats to replace it). Dissected the pins, merged them with the existing plug and all working well, and the bass is there too, so possibly something wasnt right anyway with the supplied plug.

If you search, theres a very useful thread here somewhere that shows you how to remove the seat easily and completely.

I'm afraid removal of the CD Changer is one of the most complex things you can do in a Zed, just short of replacing the roof... so don't bother.

& The difference between the two kits is predominantly the price - the innards are the same on both so neither should give the low volume issues.

The cheapest is the Mini one and it works perfectly in mine through several different devices.

Does anyone know where to buy one in Australia? Or should I just buy one from my local dealer, as the cost saving on all these overseas websites is effectively alleviated due to shipping costs?

I'd say it's probably best to just get it from a dealer. I think it was £27 when I bought mine which I guess is expensive for what it is, but still £27 isn't a lot of money and it's probably worth it just for ease.

Not as expensive as the £45 quid which i paid to the steeler :x I pick it up tomorrow and will try and fit it over the weekend. Hope i have better success with it than the PC7-BMW -01 aux lead which i purchased on fleabay.

Hi all,

Have just removed the radio and vent and plugged the aux 65120153502 cable (purchased through my local dealer) into the radio. Have not plugged the iPod in yet, however when I cycle through the modes all that appears is the radio and CD function.....no Aux function....does the Aux function only appear if it detects a sound source - i.e. when the iPod is actually playing?

Do all these AUX cables let you play via sterio or just the ipod?

Just wondering guys AUX only play IPOD? Can i use anything else? Like a a USB drive? or other phone? as long as it has a headphones outlet? (AUX?)..Like my Samsung i8150? Also do a need a cable for the ipod ? Because the cable a ipob comes with has that weird square block connection that's USB? ...I presume i need one that goes into the headphone slot and into the AUX?

This limits the quality of playback to the headphone output
For better quality you need the BMW iPod connection kit which puts a connection cable ( with the familiar apple connector )
to plug into the iPod dock connector usually passed into the glove compartment

Well i don't have a cd changed... So It would be an empty slot..altho i have Nav/Carver.

So normal AUX does'nt provide any control via the head unit? Just through the Phone/ipod etc etc...
