AUX DIY

Hi guys,

I have just bought a 2003 with Carver and 6 CD Stacker...

Can i do the Aux DIY and STILL keep the CD Changer working?

Or do i have to unplug the changer in the headunit and replace with the Aux?

I still have the car to be delivered. But want to understand how i can go abouts doing the Aux DIY with a Carver system and changer and still keep the changer working!!!

Basically what i'm trying to say are there two sockets like the one where the multichanger plugs into in the headunit?????? So i can have one for the Changer and one for the Aux!

PHEW!!!!!!!!! :?
has been covered before but seems to be confusing if you read the whole thread.

if you have bluetooth you will probably have to merge the pins, it's very easy with a small screwdriver.

there is absolutely no issue with the cd changer and aux-in together

I've got bmw bluetooth in my car... if I buy the Z4 Aux unit from a dealer, will it affect the bluetooth? I've heard/read some stories where once the aux has been fitted, the phone won't work in the car. I have an iphone so will be playing music off the same phone that is connected to the bluetooth if that makes a difference.

Sorry if the answer is already lurking on this thread - I've skimmed through each page, but 11 pages - wow!

Cheers gannet. I've just ordered the part, so I'll pick it up tomorrow and give it a shot. Fingers crossed!

Worked a treat :) If anyone has an iPhone and is worried about the rumours about bluetooth not working together with aux, don't listen to them. It works perfectly! You just have to merge the two plugs in to one as mentioned earlier in this thread.

Thanks for everyone on here giving their advice. It was actually pretty easy once i got the damn air vent off. Here's the finished result...

And you can't even see it from the driving position. sleek...

man.. this is one HUGE thread. lol

I think I've got my answers from reading, and re-reading all 12 pages, so thanks to everyone who contributed in some way

Just a suggestion, but perhaps the OP could put a FAQ on the first post with the most asked questions?
(Such as, does AUX work with Bluetooth... does AUX work with Carver... does AUX work with CD Changer.. Does the E46 cable work?... Does the MINI cable work?... What's the part no's for the E46 cable... Whats the part no's for the MINI cable?... etc).

Just to save everyone from reading 12 straight pages and still getting confused :D

My iphone works fine through the AUX, I can take calls through handsfree even though I don't have bluetooth!

Hello there. Just went thru all 12 pages from this thread but still not sure how to solve my problem.

I have a Z4 3.0si year 2006 (that's the restyling one with 265bhp engine).

I purchased off ebay this cable:

http://www.connects2.com/c2prodpic.aspx?pid=images/prodimages/prodview/ct29bm02.jpg

I was able to access the back of my Business CD headunit and plug the cable in the only place where it would go straight in.

I then tried to press twice the MODE selector button with no luck. No AUX position can be reached.

Do i need any recoding of my hedunit at BMW stealer?

Tried to contact Connect2 tech support 3 times via email with no answer at all (i guess they prefer ppl to call in since they charge 1£ per minute).

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance. Carlo

Have you tried plugging a source into the RCA cables?
it may be that it doesn't pick it up until the circuit is closed?

Tried. No luck!

@gannet: 3.5mm headphone socket or 2 x RCA is exactly the same...

Talking to my Connects2 contact, it may be appearing as the CD Changer input, rather than as AUX.

Do you just Get radio, cd, radio, cd when pressing the mode button,
or do you get radio, cd, cd1, radio?

It only toggles between Radio and CD...

So... Radio/CD/Radio/CD/Radio/CD/Radio/CD/Radio/CD/Radio/CD/Radio/CD/Radio/CD/... etc.

My radio/CD headunit is the "black" type, fitted in the restyling cars 06>.. (the earlier ones are grey). It is labelled as Business CD.

yep, yep, yep, yep, & yep.

cba to find the part numbers but both work

aux will be there whether there's signal or not, so the rca lead above probably has the wrong pins, or it would be detected.

Could you please speak to your Connects2 contact and ask if some recoding is necessary on their product?

Car is Z4 3.0si built in 2006 and has a Bisness CD radio unit. Thanks, C.

i will do, but if you have an ammeter handy, check for resistance between the two pins on the top line.
You should detect about 300kohms resistance between the two.
If not, this will be why it's not showing up :/

I'm in the process of building my own aux in from scratch (so far cost just £6 in bits!) and I know that for the connection to show up, there needs to be said resisted connection between these two pins....

Hi,

I just bought my cable but it won't work :headbang: .

Could someone tell me which pins need to plug? I have two quadlock plug back of the radio and I have plugged the cable one on the right (looking from the back of the radio).

But I'm not sure if the pins in the quadlock-plug are on the right place.

In this picture you can see the pins on the area C.

So which pins needs to be plugged?

Edit: If it matters the radio is CD business and the year model is 2003.
