aux cable ?

hi
I know this has been done to death, but i'm after some comparisons as to what other people hear and have used ?

I fitted an aux cable last year after advise on here, all good as at last I could listen to my music off my iPhone.
however I noticed that the volume of sound is about 2/3's of the highest level compared to listening to say a CD.

iPhone volume is at max, so that's ok
question is : is it the cable I have used ? or is it because that what happens and I have to live with it ?

I find the same when the missus plugs her iPone in - have to ramp up the volume control to get the same sound level as CDs

Sorry if you already know this, but the AUX in has its own volume control, I think it ranges from 1-5, I had to adjust it when I bought my car many moons ago and now I can't listen to music through AUX on max volume so it's loud enough.

It's probably very illegal for me to go near my car with key in hand so I'm currently unable to remind myself how to do it.

I've also just realised you can adjust the aux volume. You can adjust it from 1-5 in the settings tab where you adjust bass and treble etc.

I think this is only available on certain models, certainly not there on my dsp system
