AUX and CD not Recognized

Hi All,

From my understanding, when you press Mode on the radio headunit on the BMW, it should cycle through the inputs that have been installed.

In my case that would be the CD changer and Aux that came factory installed (I'm assuming because I have the 10 speaker DSP system and an Aux on bottom right portion near the climate control knob). Is there any way to fix this?

Yes, it should cycle through Tuner/CD/Aux - well that's what mine does, although it is the basic one.

But it sounds like your head unit doesn't recognise the other sources for some reason - hopefully someone will know why and how to fix it.

I read on my little card that you change the inputs for 10 seconds after switching on the radio, it sort of cycles though the inputs if you press the button and then locks in that option till you turn on the radio next time. Strange but true.. :headbang:
It was driving me crazy that one day it would see my phone And the next day it see the USB and not the phone etc. Took me ages to work out.

I'm 50% better - mine shows CD but not AUX.

I have tried various combinations - something (iphone 4) plugged into AUX/ nothing plugged in, just aux LEAD plugged, various different AUX leads in etc etc - no difference. The head unit doesnt show me AUX. :headbang:

Interested in this thread!

The problem here is that we probably have different radios with different setups so maybe we need to be specific, mine is standard professional 2005 for instance.

Found out that I don't have the CD changer, mine has the GPS CD receiver in the rear console.

Either way, if I am listening to the radio and I put a CD into the headunit, the system automatically switches to the CD input. Problem being that it stays there unless I eject the disk out

I will take photos so there will be a better understanding of the system I have. I think today I will unplug the radio, and remove the disks and only have the AUX plugged in.

its SUPPOSED to stay there . its a cd - what else do you want it to do ??

So quick update. I blew some compressed air into the mode button, and it seems that it solved the issue. I can now switch between modes :D, also learned that car came with Sirius

Do you get AUX mode?

Yes, I also unplugged the car overnight and removed the connecting wires from the radio. If you connect an AUX from your phone to another source and no music comes out of your phone, then that is generally a good sign that the other source is accepting/reading the music.
