Autotrader telesafe option...

I've just put a car up for sale on Autotrader and im uncertain about the telesafe option, its meant to stop scammers and that i believe but the fact that its 37.5p+ per minute makes me think that it will put potential buyers from contacting me, or am i thinking to much?
 
Whenever I've had AT adverts, they've not been premium rate ones. Check again to make sure it's not. My telesafe number was just a normal landline cost.

It's only 37p if you specify an 070 number, landline 01 & 02 numbers charge at the standard UK rate, that said I've always sold quickly on AT using telesafe and wouldn't dream of sticking my own number there now. Apart from scammers it avoids cold-callers from other advertisers who WILL plague you for weeks on end and you wont be pestered by potential buyers once the car is sold. Recommended :thumbsup:
 
Aye but remember when your advert expires that the bloke who takes the telesafe number to call you and;
- tries to call you and you miss it (he will call back tomorrow)
- takes your number to call at the weekend
- speaks to you and decides a week later he actually does want the car

Well he's buggered because your telesafe number has ended and now he has no way to contact you.

Pretty sures texts don't sork either.

Swings and roundabouts with them.
 
I sold my mini via AT and I used the telesafe number. I missed a call from what turned out to be the buyer of the car. I called them back from my mobile and then we both had each other's number.

If the advert is gone and I still had the number I wouldn't be calling it as I would assume the car was sold.
 
If I am looking to buy something I like to see 'real' contact details such as proper local tel number or mobile number and email address. When I get these managed front end piles of sh1te putting a hurdle between me and the person selling it puts me off and makes me think they are hiding something and hence may be less than genuine.

I have sold cars on Autotrader without giving them extra money to produce artificial telephone numbers and never had any issues.

I fear there may be more cons than pros for the seller.
 
You need the following:
1. An old phone
2. A Free Pay As You Go SIM
You know what the withheld calls are about and where they sourced the number.
Bin the SIM when you sell the car

This is a good point, basically what i had in mind, i am the same as you i like to see something genuine and there isnt no extra cost for me to choose the telesafe option i can advertise my number if i would like.

Very good idea shame i didn't think of it before, but thanks for the tip il use it next time.
