Hello,

Looking into getting an automatic z. I have noticed they have the older style shifter in some and the newer shifter in others. Is this dependant on year or spec of the vehicle?

Also whats the difference in tax prices from the same model but manual and
Auto.

My engine has the same as my wifes mine is £30 hers being and auto is £130

Only the 20i and 28i get the newest style shifter, and an 8 speed auto too. Other versions (23i and 30i) are 6 speed, 35i DCT is 7 speed.

Edit - of course the 35i has the new style shifter too

Hmm i like the new style shifter and was aiming for the 23i lol. Oh well 28i then :D

I dont think the old shifter looks right in the latest z

yeah it is very good. the emissions of the 20i turbo engine are pretty low and the cost of tax reflects that

CO2 Emissions 159g/Km
Vehicle Excise Duty rate for vehicle
6 Months Rate £93.50
12 Months Rate £170.00

the 1m is good on tax for a performance car too

Stupid as this sounds, I only bought the DCT and 35i because it had the new shifter!

not that stupid as i really liked the look of the newer shifter and that was one of the things that prevented me from buying a used, older, e89 z4 auto

the newer shifter looks super cool
