Automatic transmission oil change

Think the general consensus is that in theory it doesn't need doing according to BMW, however, like any fluid its worth a change once in a while as they naturally pick up cr*p. Those that have changed it say it makes a noticeable difference to gear changes.

Its on my to do list on my auto - think your looking at £100-£120 for an indy to do it or there's some tutorials on here as to how to DIY it if you wanted to give it a go.

Done mine a few months ago and transformed the car...It was easy to do on a ramp..
A tutorial on the forum somewhere which is what I followed. Use the correct grade fluid.

Need to do mine too

Worth doing but it's not cheap, you're looking at about £300 at a good independent but there are guys on here that will do it cheaper if you're in the right part of the country.

i had an inspection 2 done at the dealers. i provided the fluids and i wanted both the transmission and diff fluids done at same time as the inspection 2. cost me like 200 quid for it all (inspection 2 plus transmission and diff change) it should have been 800 plus, but the dealers had already bent me over on the wifes car for around 3k in fixes which weren't needed.

even the people who make the transmissions for BMW say the maximum they can last is like 7 years or 100K before they should be changed.
