Automatic/ Sport mode.

The gearbox works fine in auto, but if I push the sport button it changes up ok until it gets to fourth, and will go no further. Does anyone know if this is an easy fix myself, or do I need a trip to the Indy.

The sport button on mine raises the change points significantly ......are you sure it isn't just not going fast enough to warrant box changing to 5th ?
Assume it works fine in normal mode

I thought that might be the case, however if I am doing 90 in auto, and press the sports button, it shifts down to 4th , the revs go up, and although I tried accelerating, or lifting up on the gas, it stayed stuck in 4th. I also tried going from stationery with the sport button pressed and it shifted through the gears to 4th, and stayed there. I think it must be an electronics prob. and just wondered if the was a way of resetting it?

That could be the answer, I can't think why they made it like that though!
 
I've got a Sept '05 build 3.0i, with the auto gearbox, and have never experienced anything like this. In sport mode (manual), 5th gear works just fine. If you drop it out of sport mode, revs drop noticeably, as expected.
Sounds like something's not quite right.

If you have it in auto at 80 mph and press the sports button, could you tell me what happens please?
