Automatic Headlight Switch Retrofit

One thing I really miss on my 2004 E85 2.2 se, is the facility for setting the headlights to automatic mode.
Replacement headlight switch units with an auto facility seem relatively easy to obtain (breakers and new) but whether its feasible to incorporate one, I've no idea.
Whilst it appears physically possible to fit the unit, the question of where the sensor/signal is located, additional wiring required etc probably makes it a non-starter.
Has anyone ever considered or actually done it? Any guidance would be appreciated, I have scoured the forum but nothing found.

You need the windscreen sensor, so that would mean quite a bit of wiring and most likely a new screen.

Also the LCM with the switch has the milage and other things which need to be coded to the car... So prob more expense then its worth.

Thanks PVR, assume it's he same sensor that's used for the auto windscreen wipers, which I have on the 1 series but not on the Z, pretty much a non starter I guess, even if I had a replacement screen the wiring and access to install would be daunting. I'll move on to the next wish list item.

Sounds like it would be more sensible to upgrade the car, which would also have a six speed box which is sadly missed in mine.
Thanks for your advice.
