Anyone heard of this particular tune for the M?

Here's a clearer capture from the PDF for you.

There must be some artistic licence or errors in those 'drawings' as the claimed 350bhp actually shows as about 355bhp on the graph. Either that or it is a sick car, and they shouldn't be tuning it until it's healthy (BTW, it has been mentioned that BMW can now identify remapped vehicles when they come into the dealer network).

That 340bhp is at 7100rpm which is more like an e34 M5 power graph. Odd figures used for torque as well, as the factory standard figure is 269lb/ft at 4900rpm.

Don't know why they're only revving it to 7000rpm though, as the S54's peak power is 1000rpm higher.

If they can't get something this simple right, then would you really trust them with your engine :o

I think it's only right for me to declare an interest in this company, as this was the make of the diagnostic tool the 'technician' had who came out to see my misfiring car. Admittedly in my case it would undoubtedly have been down to operator error, but there's a human involved in any process like this.

Only mentioning this as was given a leaflet by the indies who did my coolant change, thought I'd put it up here before binning the leaflet.

Also when at the rolling road recently my car showed 280 torques :?

I'd happily accept a proven 10-15bhp and 20lb/ft increase, but it'd have to be over the factory figures and not over the 'poor' figures their rolling road has said you started out with.

You can tune a car so that it feels faster by a seat-of-the-pants dyno, but that's power delivery and says nothing about an actual peak power increase.

I spent thousands on my Corrado to get a 40bhp and 60lb/ft increase, but that involved everything from a full day on the rolling road, custom software for the variable intake manifold, Schrick cams, Schrick intake, Schrick head, larger throttle body, etc. and the car didn't feel any faster than before the mods due to the way the power delivery had been smoothed - although subsequent testing against supercharged VR6s dispelled those feelings

I'm always very sceptical of tuners power hike claims for the S54 via re-mapping.

Let's face it, it's a N/A engine developing 104BHP/litre ! How many N/A engines beat that by much of a margin ? Even the 458 Italia only gets to 125 BHP/litre (with a 9000rpm max power). The 997 GT3 Gen 2 is 113, GT3 RS 116.9 but guess what, when the S54 was unveiled the GT3RS of the time, the 996 Gen 2, was churning out, yes, you guessed it 104 BHP/litre. So the Z4M is already pretty highly tuned anyway. The CSL M3 carried a near-£20k premium over the regular model for a 17BHP increase. Now I know some of that premium was for carbon fibre bits, fancy seats/wheels etc but that carbon airbox and other under-bonnet changes must have cost at least £7-8k of the premium...for 17 BHP...!

I reckon if you want reliable and noticeable performance gains you need to do what Beedub's done and bolt a supercharger on.
