Autoglym "Perfect" collection - Good for beginners?

Hi all,

I am not well versed in car cleaning, however I plan on getting a Z and taking good care of it.

I have had a bit of a google and found the Autoglym "Perfect" collection to be rated highly and is pretty cheap. (£55 on Amazon)

Would the pros on this forum consider the products to be decent or are other products worth buying instead? Also, what kind of brush/sponge/microfiber towel collection should I start building to prepare for ownership?

You will proabably get a wide variety of recommendations here.

On balance I think that the consensus is that you won't go far wrong with AG products. That said, I have a black roadster and always use Turtle Wax Black Box on the bodywork . It does a great job on hiding small stone chips, leaves a very shiny shine and lasts quite well. Clearly using this makes little sense unless your car is black.

I always use AG products on the convertible roof and on the upholstery.

You cannot have too many microfibre cloths - the secret is trying to remember what you used each one for!

Overall i would go with the AG kit as a starter - happy cleaning.

That is a good price, however I would cut up that sponge and use for tyre dressing.

Do you have access to a pressure washer?
If so I would highly recommend these products:

Pre Wash -Valet Pro Neutral snow Foam/ Auto Finesse Avalanche - applied diluted through a snow foam lance, this helps loosen dirt for a safer wash. 1L £13 only if you have a pressure washer
Wash - Chemical Guys Mr Pink - fantastic cleaning ability, a great lather and silky finish. 500ml £8
Wash mitt- A lambs wool mitt - the dirt gets trapped in the dense pile ensuring a safer scratch free wash £10
Wheels - Chemical Guys Diablo Wheel Cleaner - 100% better than AG clean wheels, safe to use on all wheel finishes, makes light work of brake dirt. 500ml £10
Separate wheel brush or a cheap mitt.
Two buckets - One for washing the other for rinsing
Glaze - AG SRP is actually pretty good if not correcting the paint work. Ensure you do not get this on place trim though.
Interior Cleaner - Auto Finesse Verso - this is a all purpose cleaner, a little goes a long with great cleaning abilities. 1L £9
Tyre Dressing - Valet Pro Black to the future - this can also be use on black plastic trim that has faded over time. 250ml £10
Wheel Sealant - Poor Boys Wheel Sealant paste - apply using a polish pad or sponge to each wheel, allow to cure and buff off. Top up every few months, a little goes a long way and will last you years. £14
Paint Sealant - Soft 99 Fusso (light or dark depending on colour) - this wax has sealant properties and has longevity of up to 12months protection, for the price nothing else comes close. £20
Drying towel - Auto Finesse Aqua Deluxe £12.

Yes its nearly twice the price however this is far better value for money. A lot of those AG are small 325ml which won't last that long. All these products can be bought on cleanyourcar.co.uk. Fusso is available from eBay however only buy through soft99 or nipponshine sellers name as there are a lot of fakes out there.
