Autodoc Warranty

Hi,

Just a warning about using Autodoc
,I bought a new rear light from them last Oct as the price was a 100 less than the dealer..turned up and fitted ok, anyway was going out for a drive the other day and unlocked the car and noticed that light didn't light up as it should, but got no bulb out on the display so I had a look and put the old one in the boot and plugged the connector in and the rear light lit up, it turns out not only are the indicators LED but also the rear tail light and these are not user accessible, so I used the old light as a guide and found the yellow and green wires feed the LEDs and when testing with a Multimeter on my old lamp on diode mode I see a diode and when testing the new an open circuit so I open an Autodoc warranty claim which started off OK but has now become a farce, I told them the diagnostics I had done and that I had been a telecommunications engineer for 40 years and was capable of testing down to component level but apparently this is not good enough for them, they want someone else to test it on some undisclosed diagnostic machine then to send the report to them before they will progress any further..up to press I've had 10 emails all asking for the same info, even though I've already supplied it umpteen times, so I have decided that they are basically yanking my chain and told them to stick their warranty where the sun doesn't shine and I intend to get a section 75 refund on my CC..so the other question is, has anyone had an issue with these LEDs and what's the process for getting into the light as I intend to have a pint at fixing the LEDs.

The lights are sealed units as far as I know.
Requires skill with a heat gun or cutting tools / plastic welding.

There is a guy called clive who does something with them on ebay, refurbs them etc. He must have a good technique.

Have a look on youtube too.
