I had a quick browse of this week's issue today and spotted their feature on "20 future classics".

And it seems the E86 3.0Si was one of them - so it looks like I'll have to keep mine another decade or so before it becomes a classic!

Then again I just might - there is nothing else I'd rather have for similar money.

And sometimes it's almost like cars become classics just because the media keep telling everyone that they will!

Agree 100% and tbh as long as you enjoy them they will always be a "future investment"
D

When you look at other classic hatchbacks, I suppose it makes sense. Ford Capri springs to mind

I assume the thread title (and article) is a typo and you meant E85, rather than E86?

The E86 is a pretty classic shape wrapped around a good car. I wholeheartedly agree :)

Cabin is comically tight my arse. :voodoo:

Depends how big you are, I guess. In my roadster, which I assume has the same cabin bar the retractable roof, I can barely fit the side of a pound coin between my left knee and the dashboard.

I'd say that's fairly tight

There's no doubt that the coupe is absolutely beautiful to look at. But in all honesty, I'd rather have the lesser roadster. I love the sun and going for a blast down a quiet country lane. Can't beat it  if that means my car won't be a classic, I won't be losing any sleep over that.

The Z4 Coupe is a modern day classic. Has been since 2006.

That's a good way to put it!

I know wanted one from the first time I saw one in 2006 - it only took me 8 years!

It took me 12 years and I have had many so-called supercars in that time, but the Z4 coupe has something really special and it's not the low price.

+1 One major plus when buying my Zed was that the cabin is easily able to accommodate my lanky 6ft 4 inch frame. Unlike most sports cars I tried. :driving:

Hang on a minute!!! Didn’t CAR magazine, very recently call the Z4 and one of the top 10 worst car designs ever!!! I think there was a thread about it on this forum. But now I think about it, they were talking about the roadster, so that’s fair enough. The coupe
Is a classic and the roadster is a munter. I think we can all now agree on that.

Either way it’s only a classic if it’s got a whippy :) :)

That's because you've been using it!

They only really work as an investment if you don't - and then there doesn't seem to any point! :headbang:
