Auto lights

I like to leave my headlights in the auto position and run headlights full time. On some cars I've had the low beams stay on all of the time and go off with the ignition. Of course with the Z4 they are only on when it gets dark. In a Ford that I own I put tape over the sensor and the sensor thought it was always dark and the lights behaved exactly like I wanted. Does anyone know where the sensor is in the Z4? Mark

In the "on" position I have to turn off the lights when I leave the car and remember to turn them on each time that I enter. I don't think they go off with the ignition, or do they?
I know if Canada they have to be manufactured so that lights are on any time the car is running. So I assume I can purchase a device that plugs into the system to accomplish what I want........but, a little piece of temporary tape is so much easier.

Thers a piece of software called SSS (Software Service Station) which will allow you to select Daylight Running Lights, all you do then is leave the Light Switch set to Headlights and when you switch off the ignition the lights go out, and then on when the ignition is switched on. You should be able to find the equivalent of THIS on ebay in the states or just buy direct

Good luck

Why not turn the lights on, when you want them on and then turn them off, when you want them off. (I know I'm old fashioned)

Have to ask do you drive an auto?

I know, I know and I could shift the car when I want to change gears too. Getting lazy so bought an auto tranny :-) So now want lazy on lights.
