Auto lights issue after fitted dashcam power

Fitted power to my dash cam at the weekend buy cutting into the violet/white ignition 1 feed to the autosomal light in the room. Works a treat. Used this as a guide - http://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73905&p=1279037&hilit=Violet#p1279037

Since then though, my auto lights come on as soon as I turn the car on, irrespective of how light or dark it is outside.

Any ideas? Have I cocked something up?

where did you place the dash cam, is it up near the sensor for whether it's dark or not? ie blocking light
(which i always assumed is the clown nose)

Checked fuses? The light sensor is on the same part of the screen as the rain sensor, but I believe they are separate.

No, the sensor is in/under the glass. If you look closely from the outside just under the rear view mirror you will see it. The clown nose (presume you mean the big red thing on the bottom of the mirror) is purely there to show when the alarm is enabled. It's excessively large in my opinion.

Back to OP, I presume you disconnected the battery while installing the camera? Maybe you've popped a fuse? I've not heard of this issue before yet know of many dash cam installs using the rain sensor wiring as a live feed. Hopefully someone with better electrical knowledge will be able to help.
