Auto Gearbox - Shift lock won't disengage

So I had my EPS module remanufactured by ECU testing and after re-installing it I can't get the gear lever out of neutral.

If I press the brake the lever has some movement so the brake lock is working.

If I manually move the switch under the leather bag where leaver is I cannot get the key out of the ignition but gears work fine and I can drive the car. Just manually has to be put back after flicking up the lever underneath so the ignition lock is working fine.

I am thinking that the shift lock on the actual gear stick or the mechanism underneath attached to the gear stick needs re-built. Either a loose part needs taken apart and out together and tightened and see if that works.

Anyone else ever come across this or similar?

Could it be an issue with the power steering module that was remanufactured?

Have you scanned the car for faults ?
It seems like too much of a coincidence that it stopped working as soon as you re-installed the EPS.

I would doubt it's the actual EPS motor?
More likely something you've disturbed while changing it? Did you just take the motor out or rip the whole column to bits?
Maybe a switch on the brake pedal?

Mechanic has managed to diagnose it as being seized or stiff. He says everything is mechanically fine he will have to spray something and get it loose. He's checked everything now twice and will be taking it apart on monday. It's just a mechanism with a spring, solenoid and a few other bits and bobs under the gear lever and it's apparently very very hard to get it into reverse and will jump back into park if you don't give it some welly when putting it into reverse. So hopefully just a strip down, clean and lube needed.

The car sat on my drive for 2 years during the pandemic because the EPS was knackered and sitting there has now cost me a lot more on top.

Brake fluid taking on water has caused piston on the front brake to start semi seizing as well as it's not had a service in 3 years. It was going to go for a service and then EPS went and then sat for another 2 years so 3 years since it's last service but it's not been moved at all in 2 years.

So I have other issues now to get it road worth (it passed it's MOT today but I'm not going to drive it until both the shift lock and brakes are sorted). I'll make another thread. I need a full brake system refresh full discs, pads and probably front calipers too. The mechanic will sort the shift lock i'll focus on the brakes now.
