Auto Gear knob

Im sure this has been discussed numerous times, and im not asking how to remove it (pull hard seems to be the answer)
Im just wondering if any of you have changed the shifter in an auto Zed (mines a coupe) and if you have where you sourced a new one from....
The OEM one in mine is in cr@p condition, the sliver part through the middle is all flaking away and looks rubbish, id like suggestions on what other people have done, should i get one from BMW, ebay, breakers, any that should be avoided ?

I was looking at some on ebay the other day but there was nothing significantly different from the original one to make it worthwhile.

I would be happy to try and make a gear knob for an auto. But would need one to have a look at. As i am not sure how the button part works.

there are a ton on ebay, all look a little cheap and tacky to be honest, id be happy with a brand new one from BMW but im guessing expensive, perhaps ill just try find somebody breaking an auto, if anybody has one for sale in good condition id take it from you....

If anyone dose swap and has a spare they could lend me to take a look at. I might be able to make something swish and more sporty looking.
