Auto folding door mirrors - not quite random

Every now and then my door mirrors fold up automatically but I can't work out exactly what causes it. It seems to occur when I have done a bit of mucking about parking (may be even got out to have a look then moved again).

I seem to recall BMW told me years ago there was an option to have them fold automatically but then the stealer wasn't actually able to do it.

Mines an E86 Coupe - anyone able to shed any light?

Hhhmmm :? i was always under the impression the auto fold mirrors could not be programmed to fold either in or out ?
Sounds like a fault tbh from memory (current Z doesn't haven't the fold mirror option ) if you drive off with them folded in at a certain speed they fold open automatically otherwise its all on the button :?

Mine stay folded in at any speed , my 1 series mirrors used to fold out at 28 MPH automatically, its a bit annoying really.

Also another thing which the 1 series did and the zed doesnt was dip when you put the car into reverse so you could see the kerb/parking space lines.

The mirrors dip when the off side mirror control is selected.
