Auto Dimming Mirrors

Hi,

Neither my rear view or door mirrors dim on my 2006 facelift Z. Having read up quite a lot on this on here and other sites, I suspect that they have failed. I have found mention of the fact that the fuses in the facelift car were a different layout to the earlier cars. My fuse box has a list in it, but I can't work out what half the pictograms mean. Can some-one confirm what fuse the EC mirrors are on, please?

Also is there any way to test the electronics that drive the mirror? I assume that there is a voltage applied to the glass, but I haven't been able to find out what it is, so if anyone has any info that would be useful too.

Cheers.

Yes its an optional extra (I have it too). The mirror glasses have a small rubber surround.
I think it's option code 430 in the option list (I dont know if they changed that code with the facelifts)

So for the TS its important to first check if he has that option in the first place

Hi all, yes I have checked against the VIN DecodeR, which confirms I have option 430 int/ext RR VW Mirror w Aug anti-dazzle. I think, as others have said, the rubber surround is the give-away.

I replaced my E85 EC door mirrors with regular blue glass units (cheaper and unlikely to fail again). Not sure if the facelift cars share the same fuse layout but in my 2003, the fuse controlling both the EC rear and door mirrors is number 25 and is a 5A unit.
