Auto - dimming Mirror retrofit

Hello,

I was planning to retrofit a fully upgraded (auto-dim + compass + homelink) mirror instead of my basic one.
I've pinned everything according to the wiring diagram[1], coded the FZD (told it that the mirror was EC+Compass) but for some reason
nothing lights up on the new mirror & the car remote is not working anymore (probably the mirror's receiver is not working). Did I forgot a step in the process or do you guys think I bought a broken mirror?

For who wants to know what I did and maybe replicate in the future:
- I bought the retrofit kit - 61120434330
- I bought the fully upgraded mirror - 51169192321
- I did the wiring as stated in link [1]
- I coded the FZD (changed option EC_COMPASS_smth from nicht_aktiv to aktiv)

Any ideeas? Thanks in advance :)

At that price i hope someone gave you the mirror.
Does anyone know of a basic mirror that doesn't reflect the sky with roof down.

You need to change the bottom PCB inside the mirror. This is the receiver for the remote!!

Basic mirrors have the deflecting glass, hence you end up seeing the sky with the roof down. I'm currently running with a dimming mirror (not yet coded) but I don't see the sky at all (apart from where it's supposed to be, lol)

Thanks,

Already waiting on a new mirror. Even if I used the right part number when ordering, some of those mirrors do not have the RC option.
I ended up buying a new used mirror (with my mirror freq) from another BMW convertible. As soon as I receive it, I will come back with more info :).

The remote receiver PCB is specific to your remote, so it will need to be changed over otherwise it won't work.

Understood, thanks for the info. Any tips on how to open the mirror without breaking it?
I used a plastic pry tool, but it's not easy as I broke a couple of the clips. There are about 10 or so, so a couple don't make a difference (well so far anyway  )

Hey,

Little update:

No need to move the remote receiver from one mirror to the other. If you matched the frequencies (315 Mhz in my case - US car), everything should work.

Gotta get the compass to light up, code homelink / autodim and set compass zone and then i'll proceed with FLA retrofit :)

+edit:
Coded EC_SPIEGEL_KOMPASS_CABRIO to aktiv in FZD
Added $4NA (compass), $431 (auto-dim), $319 (homelink) to VO but for some weird reason they are still unoperational, still looking for a fix to that.
