Auto dim re view mirror

Alright, my rear view doesn't seem to be auto dimming, i was wondering if theres any common issues or things to check with these?
 
I have heard stories about the fluid in them leaking and causing issues not sure about a fix ,i believe there £500 new from BMW.
 
Are you definitely sure it's not working?

As above, the fluid leaks out of them, usually after a crack appears.

You can buy replacements from eBay for a reasonable price, rather than ridiculous BMW pricing.
 
No cracks or leaks.

Pretty sure it was working when I bought the car 3 weeks ago. Headlights behind just seemed really bright the last couple of nights.
 
Too test if its working, in the daylight, with the ignition on {all lights on dash , ign position 2 } place your thumb over the sensor in the front forward facing mirror back, you should see the mirror dim over a few seconds, release your thumb and it should lighten up again. It tricks to sensor into thinking that the light behind the car is brighter than the light infront of it and dims the mirror .

If its failed then ......here you go.....its all here and easy to rectify
