Auto brokers for new car purchase?

Just wanted to see if anyone here has used any of the online brokers to purchase a new car?
Ones that seem popular are broad speed and autoebid, seems like large savings can be had but are they for real?

Just scoping out 420d or 428i for a DD, seems like a £5k saving is achievable off list, is that realistic?

Any alternatives welcome too :thumbsup:
 
Never looked into it, but appears with broad speed you still buy through a main dealer. Looks like they are doing the donkey work for you and charging @ £199 if you buy.

Personally I would try and contact a few local main dealers with that price and see what they can do. If they desk direct they will earn more money for themselves so make business sense for them to do so.
 
It's been a while since I've looked at this stuff too, just wondering if the whole discount process is different, after seeing "dealer contributions" and the like.

Is the 10-15% discount whichever way it's called still an achievable target? I wouldn't think normally about buying new but the discount takes care of the " drive off the forecourt depreciation".

The autoebid process sounds interesting as its like reverse eBay for dealers to offer best price for your car/spec.
The fee is £600 though.
 
Bee interesting to see what others say, but I would take the broad speed price and go to dealers myself. I would always try lower than that price also.
 
I recently bought a Seat at about 25% off through Car Quake and previously a Citroen C1 at a massive 40% off through Autooebid. Both purchases went smoothly.
 
I got 19% off a 1 Series in April last year. I used the Broadspeed and Coast2CoastCars websites as an indication of what was available and then found a dealer that would beat it.

The brokers are good if you don't like doing a lot of donkey work, or your local dealers won't play ball.

The power of Internet forums means that everyone knows what everyone else is paying, if you do some research you will find where the cheapest deals are. Use the brand/model-specific forums and see what comes up, usually there will be a dealer lurking on the forum who offers special deals (as there is on the BabyBMW website for 1 Series owners).

If you buy at the right time, and see what retail offers BMW are offering, and take their finance package, I would expect 15-20% is easily within reach.
 
Used broadspeed to get my 35iS. No problems but they take a commission plus the 199 fee so you should be able to get more out of a local dealer. If you can be arsed :-)
