Auto box?

What type is the gearbox fitted to the Z4, I've recently had a 320d with the General Motors box that has has problems and is not well regarded.
 
It's a 5 speed, slush box on the 85&86. not sure what's fitted to the 89's. I suspect Bing will be along shortly to tell of the details. :wink:
 
Different ones in the E89, originally fitted with the 6 speed auto box and the 7 speed dual clutch in the 35i (option) and 35is as standard. The newer models since 2012 have been fitted with the 7 speed dual clutch (35i and 35IS)and the 8 speed auto instead of the 6 speed.

I never had any issues in my E88 with a 6 speed apart from a software issue which was promptly sorted, my mum has a E61 auto with the 6 speed again no issues.

What model are you looking at?

I *think* the prefacelift is a 5 speed except for the 3.0i which may be 6... But could be wrong. The facelift - 2006 onwards - is a 6 speed, mated to a different engine. It's ace. But rather than me bang on here and bore buzyg, again. :P , click on the 'for sale' link in my sig as you'll find my opinion there :thumbsup:
 
No issued with my SMG it's on 102k and going strong.
