Auto box shift speed

Is it normal for the auto box shift to be quite slow?
I have a 30i so a single clutch box. I was out last weekend and noticed in sport mode the shifts seemed to take forever. I intend to change the gearbox oil at its next service (she’s just gone 120000 miles). I asked a local indie for a price and he quoted me £750 to service and do a diagnostic check on it. I thought that was quite steep but if it’s not shifting as it should, maybe it’s worth it.
Any opinions would be appreciated.

Can an admin move this to the e89 discussion forum please? I posted in the wrong place.

From a chat i had with my local auto trans specialist I've learnt that gearbox issues are rarely cured by just doing a fluid change. There is nearly always something else going on.

I would say the opposite…first port of call with auto boxes is oil level / quality of oil..

Fluid should have been changed at 60k miles come what may..so long long long overdue..

Filters and fluid are in excess of £300 plus labour

Has the car really done 120k in 5 yrs or so, that’s a lot, the gearbox does need oil and filter ar 60k or so £750 sounds high for parts and an hours work, the change points are controlled by the cars computer, if there is an internal problem it’s a specialist job and expensive.

£413 is the list price of the service kit…plus labour..obviously may be sourced cheaper

The car is a 2010.

Assumed it was a 3.0i G29

Is the E89 a ZF 6 HP ?? if so a local auto gearbox specialist charged me £250 2 yrs ago.
Early e89 used ZF6HP later ZF8HP ..apart from 35i which was DCT

Full service includes fresh oil and a new pan / filter

Any particular brand of service kit that's recommended? I've seen them range from £120-£230. I've been considering getting this done.

Imho best to stick with the ZF official kit…

Most people are only going to do this once so do it properly
