Audio System Upgrade/ Fossgate Amp

After reading many posts I decided to upgrade my rubbish business audio (6 speakers and no amp). Went the route of 2 way speakers in the cubbys and Amp that can take high level inputs. :smart:

I bought 6x9 speakers for the cubby holes and a nice Fossgate 400 watt Amp. Speakers are all 4 ohm.

As this amp can take High Level Inputs I just took the rear speaker feeds straight in. Sounds good but.............

Problem 1 The radio switches on but there is no audio from either front or rear, front has not been touched. If I disconnect the amp speaker inputs it comes to life. With the radio on and functioning I reconnect the rear speaker inputs and it all works as advertised. Switch ignition off for 5 mins and problem 1 appears again. :chairfight:

Problem 2: Alternator whine....12v Positive straight from fused side of the battery connection. Ground is on the offside bulkhead where all the other earths come together. Radio off and its there, radio on you can live with it. Disconnecting the BMW speaker wire inputs one at a time, it appears that I am getting interference from the twisted pairs from the head unit and not from the ground. :headbang:

Tried mounting the amp in the boot hole and then shifted it to the nearside bulkhead away from the main power cable run

Whats Causing Problem 1?

Does Problem 2 mean I will need to run new wires front to rear or am I confusing myself?

Wont be touching it again tonight, maybe tomorrow.....pis**d off for now for what should be straight forward. :headbang:

Any suggestions? The extensive posts dont seem to mention problem 1 and I have followed solutions to get a good power ground
