Audio set up confusion

Ok not sure about what setup my Z had audiowise, even after reading up on here I’m still not sure.

Ok I have a 53 reg 3.0i, with the grey business CD head unit with a 6 CD changer. I have what looks like an audio amp in the space infront of the battery in the boot.

I have mesh (which I cannot see into or prise off easily) over the area behind my seat, where my friend’s Z4 has storage space. The stereo seems pretty bassy at certain low frequencies, even at say 80mph with the roof down. I usually have the bass just one level up on the equaliser, and the treble a good few notches up – with the Jazzclub setting.

Do I have smalls subs?? What is the amp about, I thought only thr SatNav premier ones had this…….confused!
 
Looks like you either have the 'HiFi' or 'Top HiFi' options.

Do you have DSP options - e.g. live, rock, pop etc. ? If so, you have the 'Top HiFi' setup with an amp, otherwise not.
 
Mesh over "storage space" = subwoofers. Sounds like the Carver system. "Jazzclub" is a DSP setting that is part of the THX certified Carver system. The headunit looks like a "regular" system for all levels.

Same as mine, but my amp is behind the carpet in the boot,

There should be two amps in the trunk/boot, iirc.
 
The fact that you have DSP at all means you have the 'Top HiFi' (10 speakers, amp in the boot). It's the highest factory-fitted stereo option.
