Hi

I have a standard E85 2003 Z4 and it is getting annoying when I cannot even put a CD in that has MP3 tracks on. I would like to be able to play my iPOD through the sound system, anyone know if and how this can be done?

There are many options depending on how much you want to spend and how sophisticated
Question 1 do you have an AUX in fitted as this is required for the cheaper solutions
and are you happy controlling from the iPod and are you looking for a plug and play solution
 
Hi Guys

I do not have integrated Nav and don't think I have an AUX socket that I am aware of. Will this be at the back of the stereo? It really looks like a simple solution in this car.
 
Aux was only standard on cars built after 07,as Stuart said Aux is far the cheapest and easiest way to connect your Ipod/Mp3.

I fitted the Aux lead in mine and it works perfectly but i also use a bluetooth receiver that connects into the end of the Aux lead so the Ipod doesn't have to be directly connected to the Aux lead.

I have given up on the B/T the tiny one had to be paired everytime and the Blackberry paired automatically but the sound was distorted
having checked the BMW Y cable from the 120 i purchased a clone on Amazon for £11 and connect USB to the power socket and 3.5mm to the aux
result great sound and with cables hidden behind AUX plug panel ,neat.
iPhone mounted in brodit just to left of heater controls

Without an Aux there is no simple way of accessing the in-car sound system
If you search there are threads where other owners have fitted the AUX socket and it involves plugging into the back of the headunit so to to some degree it depends
on how much you are prepared to do yourself or use an indie , Dealer or incar sound specialist
