I know you aren't a big fan OG & I have said a few times on pistonheads that there are far more superior cars dynamically than the TTS for sure & I think the biggest reason my mrs liked it was solely on looks first & I was impressed by the performance but as a package its proved its worth I think.original guvnor said:I had one of these for a week once. I was considering one as a company car. I've even got a photo of me on facebook standing next to it that a friend of mine over from Singapore took. However I shan't be posting that!
I'll be as objective as I can because everyone knows I generally dislike Audi's with a passion.
It was a good car. Drove well, it was quick, a bit quicker than my 3-litre Zed of the time, well made and for an everyday car it was fine. But if you are looking for a car to really put a smile on your face, a special car, this will not be that car. I was bored by the end of the week. It's got a rather average sounding 4-pot and there isn't much soul there at all. Well none actually. If I never ever drove one or saw one again I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep over it.
As an everyday company car to hack up and down the motorway in all weathers it would be fine, which is why a lot of my colleagues chose TT's. But a drivers car it ain't.
I know! my 330i is 8 years old now & it had 48k on it in November now up to 51k...I sometimes think with the miles my other half does diesel would be a better bet in terms of economy/fuel costs.bluestreak56 said:48k in under 2 years WOW. My 07 plate coupe is about to tick over 39k soon ...
I was thinking one of these - still undecided on what to do car wise, but it's on my list of potentials.inkey$ said:Great write up Lee
If I can find one locally, might have to have a little go in one of these I think. Looks cool parked up next to the M3!
Good stuffStug said:I went into my local audi dealer today to see if there info on the Mk3..sadly there wasnt. But they did have one of the 'special edition' out going TTS in the showroom. Its 1 of only 500.. god damn it looked good....![]()

We only have a oil burner but I love it!! You won't be disappointed by the car!! Yes its a bit numb compared to z4. But I do love driving it still.
Great stuff and I wish you all the best with itaquazi said:Just found this thread through a random search! As my next car is going to be a TTS!
Great summary Lee!

We do miss our old one because although the 640 is a very nice car it feels like a boat and we miss the light and nimble TTS and with the 640 being a diesel we miss the sound of a petrol too.
Sold ours with 67k miles on it and the dealer sold it within a few days and I think someone got a good motor even though the miles were high for its age.
Look forward to some pics when you get yours![]()
Not controversial at all, the TTS has a faster quoted 0-60 time, especially in S-tronic. Look forward to seeing pics of yours and reading your thoughts as I am hoping to get one next Summer.aquazi said:Machine monkey said:aquazi said:Also controversial... but recon the TTS is faster off the line.. and in real life driving too than my Z4.. the magnetic ride absorbs the bumps on the country lanes far better than my E85 which inspire more confidence to go quicker around bends.
