Hi guys

Was looking around on the net today and stumbled across the Audi TT RS, some impressive spec's , 4wd , 340 bhp , 0-60 4.6 sec's , 31 mpgs not to mention some lovely styling and 4 seats!!! well two kids two Adults. Around 26-30k currently but maybe one to watch?

Has anyone test drove one?

A mate of mine has one, has been chipped and a Millitek exhaust, sounds pretty good and goes like stink. Styling not for me really, and I'm not convinced by Audi's reliability or running costs.

Great car but I think I'd rather have a 997S for similar money

Fair point , I suppose in a few years the deperication would have kicked in will be more like 15k-18k then

Saw reliability questioned & on my last two TDi 170's been the most reliable motors I've ever owned - did 60k in my 07 plate Quattro, had it chipped, ragged it yet never had an issue. Even at its last service at 56k, pad still had 60% left, unreal.

However, seen quite a few complaints about turbos, both petrol & diesel only lasting 40k... mine was starting to whistle b4 it went, but otherwise it did everything it said on the tin, come rain, snow or shine & now have another.

That 2.5 engine is brutal when chipped, not sure I'd want to keep one much over 30k

Yes you may be able to buy a 997s for similar money, but the car will be a lot older and will be significantly more expensive to own for similar performance, but hey let's overlook all rational thinking because it's a Porsche 911

So I will take the TT RS over the Porsche as a daily driver, as a weekend mile limited car, that becomes a much harder decision.

Love the way they look, awesome performance & tunable to 400bhp with minimal effort and money, build quality is significantly better than ours...

I got destroyed by one on the road! Was a little disappointed with the wee ///M!!!

I'd seriously consider one next!

I would, but would have to be a lot cheaper than they currently are given what you can be at the same age and money.

Only ever seen/heard one on the road and it sounded truly epic :)

One's a real sports car the other isn't...

Depends what you want really. Its got a 5 pot right?

Personnaly I absolutely hate Audi's (bar the old V8 RS4 and V8 R8), to me its just the dead hand fine tuned corporatism machine, but their reliability has got a lot better (I owned a few as compnay cars) but its just such an image problem and they are so common. Audy seem to have replaced the Beemer "wan**r" of the 1990's :(
for Mr. Smith its a fine very well built and well marketed posh german front wheel drive/ Haldex fake 4WD car (which very few people care about).

I couldn't agree more.

Yes I agree, the 911 has become more of a GT than a sports car :poke:

Think the TTS is better value for money.....if I had to be stupid nough to buy a TT. As I've always said, the RCZ looks better

The TT-RS should be brutally fast in the Real World. The TT-S with a simple remap can give a Z4M a run for its money (trust me...), imagine a lightly modified TT-RS.. Even stock with all that turbo torque it's faster in a straight line and even in the twisties. Might not be the pinnacle of handling dynamics but they are very quick and very capable.

There are people who don't care for tail-out antics or the ultimate in steering feel, they just want a fast car. The TT-RS is such a car.
