Audi TT MK3

We have kind of just put a deposit down on a tdi TT!! It will be ours as long as we like the s tronic anyone got any views?? Naturally I would go manual but it's the wife's car and it's the only one left colour and all the bits she wanted?

Exciting stuff

I am a manual die hard to be honest but my mrs does plenty of miles so we went for the s tronic in ours & I think its a great gearbox overall its smooth & quick changing & its nice to have a play with the paddles just to mix things up a little, the gearbox has been totally fine also in just over 47k miles so I don't have an issue with recommending it. :)

The S-tronic box suits the diesel engine really well. Sport mode is a waste of time as the VAG diesels run out of puff really low down and the box just holds onto the gears far too long with the diesel engine but in D or using the paddles (i preferred using the stick) to manually change it's a great combo. That box was by far the best thing about my A3 tdi.

All sounds promising. We have put down a refundable deposit to secure the car. It was apparently the last one in the country and they are building no more. If the gearbox is as good as you guys say. And I believe you we will be the proud owners of the car as soon as they can get it ready.

Oxford Audi have been really good. They have knocked off the cost of some options we said we didn't want. They offered us a few hundred more then we where expecting for or trad in. They have worked really hard to get us the car we wanted for the price we wanted / happy to pay. Add in the Audi contribution to shift old stock I feel we have got a nice deal.

I know its a TDI not a TTs or a full fat RS. But this is mrs monkeys car and she is not so bothered about flat out performance. And the oil burner is not slow off the line but it's in gear pulling is actually quite good and fun. I haven't been so excited ever about our daily driver :)

For clarification it's the last black sires red one with the amplified pack. In the country I am sure Audi have a few more red TTs if anyone wants one....

It's very exciting can't wait. Best go join the TT forum :o

The S tronic boxes are lovely & yes they do run out of puff standard, but put in a Bluefin remap & it really smooths them out.

Only downside is the new 2014 TDi has an extra 11 horses and 60kg lighter

No Quattro though (yet)

You will love the TDI Audi. Best choice I reckon.

Might be tempted to take your TTRS LEe when you decide to sell.

Lee - how do you find the TTS in terms of power delivery and drama? They've always intrigued me!

My A3 was red and I have to say that it was probably the best paint i've ever had on ANY car both in terms of the quality and how well it polished up.

I really like the sound of it for a four pot as they have a Sports exhaust as standard so its nice & vocal, it suffers from a little bit of lag initially but once over that the mid range is very impressive, at first the handling is a little off putting when you have been used to RWD but once you learn to lean on the Quattro system it offers up plenty of grip & its stunning to punt off the line in all conditions.

I find it quick up to 100mph but I think it could do with a remap as the performance tails off a little after 100mph...all experienced on my private local test track!!

The car has done 48k miles in 20 months & its been faultless so as a package I think its very good & the 5.2 to 60 isn't bad at all considering its "only 268bhp" & the mrs has been very happy with it & she loves beemers too. :)

Interesting. I see you can get them for sensible money secondhand now too which is cool. Would love to see a thread on yours if you haven't already
