Audi R8 Depreciation curve? Considering one...

I am considering buying one next year. You can get one for around £60k, i'm hoping they drop more, maybe to around £50k...

Yes i know there are better cars, Porsches, Lambo's, Ferraris etc. But the R8 is a serious contender for me. Saw one in Bradford 18 months ago and fell in love there and then. It was all black.

If I do buy one, I'll most likely keep it only as a weekend toy or pull it out on special occasions.

What's the lowest you reckon they could fall or bottom out over five years of ownership if i was to buy one next year? Would they hold their value well?

not sure, but if you can - i would get one as i am also a huge fan. Love 911's but getting really sick of the sight of them as they are so common. Love the gallardo and its my dream motor, however i wouldnt like to run one due to the costs involved.

what are the running costs like for a A8 ?. i would be interested to find out. Also, bit of a step up from a Z4 isnt it ?

You mean the R8? The A8 is the long saloon model.

From what i gather they aint too bad compared to others such as Lambo, Ferrari etc ..

15k service intervals and so on. It would purely be for the odd spin here and there, and something to pull out when the heart desires.

Regarding the Z4, it was a car i had wanted since my early twenties so I bought it on a whim a few months ago.

Could not agree more about 911s! Massive fan, but see so many these days the shine is wearing off!

Gallardo running costs... a friend decapitated a small bird with his and smashed the air duct. A few miles away his wife hit the wing mirror of hew X5 and cracked the cover. They went off to Lamborghini and BMW respectively and replaced their bits of plastic... guess which one cost £28 and which cost £250!
Shame the Lambo serving isn't as cheap! Every other time it goes in they want to put it on a jig and straighten it out @ around £1,000!

Beancounter1980 - would be a nice change up! Bring it to a meet and see what the M boys are made of... I have to say, it wouldn't be a typical bean counter purchase

Buy one for £50k? How about win one for 20 quid... www.botb.com

(bear in mind that the chances of winning are probably near zero lol)

He bought it brand new, so, as far as I'm aware, no problems. It's his only car and for what it is it's been quite practical and and reliable. I'll ask him about it properly next time I see him though.

If your hoping for it to drop 10k in depreciation in a year from now i think you may have answered your own question

I would never buy a car i couldn't afford to lose the purchase price on, you never know what could happen.

Because the Dealer is Big Motoring World.

I wouldnt buy a £2000 rush bucket from them let alone a Prestige motor like the R8.
