Audi A3 Sportback or BMW 3 Touring

Thinking of going down the dog route again, so as part of that I will sell the Polo to get an estate (dog will be big - Rhodesian Ridgeback). As my daughter is the main registered driver of the Polo, and the rest are named drivers, I need to get a car that is insurable. I did a check on a 1.4TSI engine, which was only £100 a year more to insure so not bad at all.

I have set a budget of 15k.

So ... which car is best for this job. Price wise they seem to be the same.

Don't want a bigger car as for the real journeys I will use the X5, and this car will be the shopping car as such so anything bigger than that will be a nightmare.

1.4 TFSI with a remap pushes 160bhp, not bad either
But how is a BMW 3-series Touring as cheap as an A3 in insurance? Would think it is more?

Well, of those two I'd personally take the BMW but I doubt that either would be 'cheap' to insure. How about a Skoda Fabia estate? The 1.2 is commendably low group...

A3 is more like 1 Series, why now a A4 Avant.

I would go 3 series though for some rear wheel drive action

One of my favourite dogs the Ridgeback, good choice and I'd love one but it's a just a bit too big, so we are looking at Vizsla next year. Good luck with the hunt for both

Deed has been done:

Thanks, the 125 BHP is a little better than the Polo's 85.

Being an 's-line' means it looks pretty good.

Nice

Mrs B wants one of these. Be interested in how it works out.
