AUC car with reps...

Overpriced for the mileage from a dealer but what strikes me is the reps. I thought AUC cars shouldn't be sold with replica wheels etc? Sytner Leicester had the cheek to tell me that if I purchased a car from them and installed aftermarket items such as an exhaust, no BMW dealer would dare buy it back! They seem to have double standards don't they...

AUC seems to mean nothing these days reading some stories. Only 1 garage I spoke with wanted to know where and when my servicing was done so they could check it out. The rest just wanted to know it had been serviced. It's all just an excuse to pay the seller less than its worth and tell then we can't sell it here must go to auction etc. which is what I was told would be the case if even 1 service was not carried out by BMW which we all know is against EU Rules but garages make it up as they go along.

I agree. I've been to look at a couple of dealer cars and spoken with some over the phone and quite shamefully and disappointingly so they seem to not care for putting a car on their forecourt that has dodgy service history or is just downright not up to sales scratch. Buying in however I'm sure they'd flog you every flaw in order to award the lowest price. Sytner Lecister told me there 'just isn't the margin' in selling cars anymore, they claim to not make much profit off these vehicles! Which is why they like to finance.

For a car like this one I bet the margins are quite big, but on some yes I can see that however for cars with little margins they want good spec, excellent condition cars. A bit like my old car, by the time I got back from Newcastle on Saturday my car was already on the BMW AUC site but it was mint and it's not up for much more than I got for it.

Just annoying that people are paying a premium got AUC and their 120 checks which actually is a load of bull. What would happen re warranty if you had to make a claim on the AUC warranty and it turned out actually the car didn't meet the warranty standards

I seem to recall that there was a thread where an owner was sold a z4 with csl reps by a dealer and they deemed it okay as the wheels were of satisfactory quality, and other visual checks.

I've just won a huge battle with Styner regarding my 108's, one of which developed corrosion after 5 months. Wheel warranty is good as non-existent from what I've gathered (given I had to escalate the matter to the MD of the dealership blah blah enough for another thread)

Bottom line, provided they're happy with the condition of the wheel, that's all that seems to matter.

I remember this thread too Neil, exactly what I thought of when posting. Wasn't the lady considering taking the car back?

Not entirely sure, but I'm sure with enough time reading the fine print, you could exchange the reps for a set of OEM wheels.

BMW seem to care more about regulating prices than buying back quality cars with complete history and good condition.....

AUC is just a guideline for dealers.

I rejected a BMW and when challenged they said that they made a judgement about it's condition and AUC allows them to do this.

I remember when BMW would list what their checks were, now it's pretty vague. Sign of the times I suppose
