it wont be the most exciting drive in the world ( probably the 3 series or Xf in this class) but I think that is a pretty neat compact Audi - back to how they used to look understated and solid - i like it, most on here will hate it i think.

I love the Avants, always have. Had an Audi 100 Avant years ago, thing of delicate beauty compared to the competition. They always look more stylish than the BMW equivalent.

Not been in an audi for years, but that gear selector looks a little OTT

You should have said, I could have given you a ride in the A3 … :P

We'd have to have stood in a committee for an hour to work that out though :P

I like the style of audis, just the pedal heights of all VAG give me calf cramp after 30mins. Never had one for more than a few days, so never long enough to work out if the seat position can be moved for comfort. Only car make I've ever had this with, so persevering seems a bit daft - until I can justify an R8 for my daily commute

Interesting. I had feet trouble with the latest model Polo we had before the Audi, but the Audi has been very comfortable. The MKI Golf is good as well.

Too flexible seats is a problem though - the Golf is simple forward, backward, bit of height and backrest and it is extremely comfortable as they are sports seats.

The Porsche has the 23 way seat adjusters - and I am forever adjusting them to get comfortable ...

Agree, fewer settings is sometimes better. S2000 had just the basics, comfortable straight away. f10 had the same as the Z plus lumbar and headrests (madness!) & always tweaking it. Z is pretty much the same.

23 ways, struggling to work out how you can need so many options. Forward, backwards, up, down, seat base angle, back rest angle, 4 way lumbar, headrest up/down & I've run out at 14??? What else is left to adjust, seat rotation left to right?

Guess we are off topic again!

Sorry, 18 way. There are 8, 14 and 18 way seats. The 50th came with 18 way.

If this improves 100% over the previous model it will be 50% as good as the current 3-series. They really are so boring and that new front end is gopping.

So what adjustment have I missed? It's doing my tired brain in tonight trying to think & too lazy to get the manual up! :headbang:

Father in law picked up his 15 plate 911 CarreraS in Saturday, bloody gorgeous - especially the sports exhaust on loud! Seats give so much support on the shoulders vs the Z. Should have played with his seats as he what I assume to be the same adjustability.

Going against the grain here and fully expect to get both barrels OG style....but I have always loved the latest looking Audi's. IMO they look the most forward thinking design wise and less ostentatious than BMW or Mercedes who often produce great looking cars but with one or two things not quite right. Audi seem to nail it across the board.

Now if only they could rid themselves of that driver image. You know the one. Where the driver is 3 feet from your silencer with his aggressive looking daylight running lights blinding all your mirrors.

Yes, I never know how to behave … be a prick in an Audi or one in a BMW ;)

Had a 10 plate, 143 Avant S Line for 3 years. The most reliable, well built, boring car I have ever owned. I was sad when I had to hand it back to the leasing company after 60K miles, not one day off the road. Replaced it with a Volvo V60 R Design and although the Volvo has been less reliable (twice gone away on a low loader), I wouldn't go back to the Audi for anything.

I have done 45K in the Volvo and it has been so much fun to drive. It goes back in April and a Mercedes C Class Estate is looking favourite next, mainly for the reason that I have never had a Merc. If I was spending my own money then the Volvo would be the one I would go for.

I expect that a 3 series would be a better drive than all those mentioned above.

Apologies Harvard. Unfortunate cross-posting there mate. Am sure you'll not be a tit in a Merc :)
Volvo interesting review. Interior wise they're as dull as unseasoned Gothenburg meatballs though right?
