Hey,

So I don't actually own a z4 .. YET... but I figured the best place to get info before I buy one would be a z4 forum :)
Now I'm pretty much sitting on the money so within next pay check I'm looking at getting one..
I just want to know how these are in reliability department?
I know BMW's are built solid,
but any common problems that I should know about?
any significant costs when it comes to spare parts?
one in particular... My last car was an 98 audi a4 an fuel pump went on it an cost me 800 bux for a stock one when my brothers lancers fuel pump went only cost him 180 an that was for a performance pump...
something like a fuel pump for z4 how much you lookin at?
I just want to know what I'm getting into?
Any advice for a newbie buying a z4.. specially when looking for used ones? anything to look out for in particular that could cause future problems?
I know these are a lot of questions but any help would be great :)

cheers,

Daniel

Only major re-occuring problem is with the rear springs snapping. cost less than £200 GBP to replace.

other common problems are with sensors (emission) don't cost much

Do a search for AlanJ and look at his link in his signature

Good luck

Welcome to the forum

Well all depends what you plan to purchase, model, engine etc. in order to get specific help you need to specify that.

Do some reading, perhaps your questions will be answered. Also make some searches.

There are some major issues such as ...

HPFP (High Pressure Fuel Pumps) on Engines E54

RFT (Run-Flat-Tires)

Type of Radio you like to get etc.

PS. Just a suggestion to you, I would reframe from using CAPITAL lettering (I'm sure you know it means you are shouting from the roof tops on the Internet). Also your choice of the Subject line ATTENTION EVERYONE could have been more to the point like "Need Help to purchase a Z4"

Welcome to the Forum

As Chrismann85 mentions there's a link in my signature for checks to do when buying pre owned (BMW talk for secondhand!). Take your time when looking and don't let you heart rule. your head. The link below will take you to a wbsite that lists all BMW parts - just select the Z4 section and you can use the prices quoted as a guide to what spares may cost. The prices shown are in Euros and Dollars so you will need to do a quick echange rate calculation. Use them as a guide only.

Coincidentally, I've been looking at how much Z4s cost in Aus as I'm planning to move there next year. Couldn't see anything under $30k AUS :?
