Attack of the chavs.

I sometimes wonder if the Police are scared of some of these People? Ie scared to confront them with their limited resources.

Me too, seems some people are untouchable and this guy may be one such person :|

Is it taxed ?

Unlikely if it is not insured .. the DVLA are usually very hot on seizing

Alternatively.. if no luck with your local plod then your local councillors and MP

I’ve used councillors to get action before now

.. if the vehicle is being used antisocially and dangerously in a residential area putting children/pensioners at risk whilst untaxed and uninsured... then a councillor with a direct line to the chief con normally gets action very very quickly esp if certain key words round community safety and cohesion are used .. they really don’t like that and the s**t rolls down hill very fast

The local police commander will be held to account at the regular ward/neighbourhood meetings .. often in a public forum .. and they don’t like that

HTH

I should add that the local cops and even PCSO’s can seize the vehicle for no tax ... it doesn’t have to be being driven or even attended .. just on a road or other public place

They just make a call to their recovery agents who get authority from the DVLA to seize .. there is no paperwork for the cops the recovery agents sort it all ( there are certain time limits on how long it must have been untaxed for iirc it’s 56 days)

The owner then had to pay the back tax ... storage fees and tax it going forward to get it back

They’d also have to insure it to get it released

Otherwise it gets crushed

Piss easy for the police .. no paperwork at all

A colleague had his car, which was under restoration and untaxed, parked on his land at the side of his house. Tha Dvla clamped it as they assumed it was on public land. He had to jump thro hoops and prove it was his land before they unclamped it.

I should also say that it was one of his neighbours who had made an anonymous report via the DVla web page.

Surely the reporting an untaxed vehicle page should come into play here?

Well you really couldn't write this stuff. His mates Wayne and Waynetta were back today and parked the Scooby behind the Z. A quick check and the Scooby is on the DVLA site as silver ... now red (the Z should be red but is now black). The Scooby hasn't been taxed or had an MOT since 2011 ! FFS I give in :-( Next year I plan on neither taxing nor having a valid MOT on either my Zed or the VRS (Yoda the SKODA). Of course this means that I will not be able to insure them either. Looks like I'll be a Grand or so better off. More money for Burberry hats and gold chains innit ?

Amazing :slaphead:
Have you tried crime stoppers ?

To be honest not sure I've lost track of the number of people that I have rang. I eventually got through to Wiltshire Constabulary but only via a go-between at their call centre.

Swindon Council "Not our problem it's a police matter"

Wiltshire Const " No offense here if he's not driving it , it's a council matter or DVLA.

DVLA "Not our concern sir try the police"

And so on and so on .........................

Quoted CIE until I'm blue in the face, pointed them at the RAC site, pointed them at MID. Eventually the woman at the call centre seemed so embarrassed at the responses that she was receiving from the PC that she agreed to raise an intelligence report but that they would raise this with the council as he (the PC) was adamant that unless it was being driven it was a council matter or DVLA or The Pope or The Queen ....... I think that he claimed Noddy and Big Ears were responsible at some point.

I wouldn’t let this lie, these numbskulls are going to drive into someone’s pride & joy one day
Maybe pictures of them both on the road will embarrass the police into action?
Rob

Are you on Facebook? We have a ‘spotted’ thread where I live and anything you post to them gets put on via the moderators. It p*sses me off knowing these tw@ts get away with it and we all end up paying for it, I’m pretty sure your local residents would feel the same way.

Result ! It's gone and all the crap in the road has been cleared away.

But did the cockwomble drive it away or has it been impounded?
Rob

The last time I saw it Rob, it was in no condition to drive. Last night a about 9:00 pm it still had most of the clutch assembly on the road in front of it and parts boxes under the half open bonnet. He may of course have towed it somewhere himself but to be honest I don't think so.
He's either been threatened with action or the council have taken it.

That's good news then, did you see what happened to it.

No I was at work. When I returned it had gone. It's only taken four weeks ! I was talking to my next door neighbour and she was pretty
pi@@ed of with it. Maybe she reported it too.
