Hi. Does anyone have the ability to make or already have a 3D scan of the ashtray for the Z4 E85/E86? I want to design a phone holder to replace an ashtray that can be printed.

I have the same garage door remote.
It'll be obsolete when he changes his phone for one that's a different size. Seems to be printed to his phones size specifically.
Nice idea though.

You looking at doing something like this:

not bad I was thinking about making an insert with a hole for the phone so that I could insert it vertically, after taking out the phone I could close the lid of the ashtray

This is awesome. I just on an E85 and when with the proclip mount, but it still feels a bit out of place to me.

It would be great ideal if you could make this work with MagSafe and a really low profile cigarette lighter adaptor. I'd definitely buy one.

If you're referring to one I have made in the above video then I have adapted it so that a wireless battery pack can be used. I have a Samsung so the battery pack fits snug into a hole because it doesnt have magsafe. If you are using an IPhone then a magsafe battery pack would work better.

My thinking was if the print could hold a MagSafe changer like the way this one does and you left room for a low profile cigarette lighter adapter, you've got a really tidy solution.

This could also be an option, rather than using the flush mount usb charger in the 12v port, as it'll move the wiring out of the location where the holder will want to be sitting (if that makes sense?). It'll stop 2 things (mount and charger/wiring) fighting for the same space.

Sorry, I didn't realize that was your post and could have replied here.

It's a good idea. Where did you pull power from? That's the only thing I didn't understand.
