ashame or not ashame

Haven't seen the new car un-disguised so i can't comment on looks, no doubt it'll look funny to start with but grow on me (as this generation of Z4 did) but.... there's no two ways about it, it'll be porky compared to this one which will be a problem for me. I used to have a Smart Roadster and, coming from that, my Z4 is right on the borderline of being too big and too inefficient (by which I mean wasting space, not drinking fuel). I expect that my next car will be more minimalist, and will probably say Lotus on the back.

The 'reliable TVR' would be fun :driving:
I've often thought that TVR would have been better not indulging in developing the Speed Six, but rather sourcing M62 V8's from BMW, or perhaps the S54 from the E46 M3. They'd provide enough stonk but not eat themselves.

One of the many things that I really like about my car is the way it looks and the fact it is a coupe. So, no, I won't be ashamed at all :D (unless, perhaps, they bring out an even better coupe version :o )

Yea, I absolutely agree. There isnt a true Coupe verison of the new Z, and as others have said, the current Coupe is pretty rare and unique! Id much prefer a proper true coupe than a folding hard top.

Perhaps (when it happens..) the new Z4M will be a coupe? Seems to have been the way the previous Z3&4 have gone?

What they might do is replace the folding roof with a normal hardtop, it still looks the same but is more rigid, Mercedes did this with the SLK55 and SL65 Black series cars.

The folding roof is not a true coupe: it has reduced rigidity, greater weight, and less storage space. When I purchased mine, I was looking for a sports car, not a car that looked like a sports car. I like of the looks of my coupe and it's performance, I plan on keeping it a long time. When the time comes to replace my car, I will choose another (true) coupe. BMW will be my first choice, but there are other marques that offer true performance also.

I think they've dropped a bollock with the new one. Ragtop enthusiasts won't want to buy it, and the current coupe is sooooo much prettier, they won't want it either. I wanted a coupe first just because of how it looked, but also wanted a soft top,so I got my rag top. I love it. I won't be buying a folding hard top car, not my thing........guess I'll be keeping the Z4 for a loooong time.

May be the future Zed 2 will be a powerful small roadster/coupe. I wouldn't be surprised if the smaller Z2 will out sell the bigger more expensive new Z4. In the Canadian market, the Mazda MX-5 out sells it's bigger more expensive sibling the RX-8.
