Ash tray gauge pod?

I wanted to try this out, thanks to member “jasono” for giving me his old ash tray part so I could play with it. Holds 2x 52mm gauges

I’m still undecided if I’d use it though... maybe I’ll glue it together, get resin coating on the printed part then give it away to someone who’d make use of it and can sand and paint match to suit them.

Gauge Holder was not designed by me - I came across it on thingiverse, I did have to tweak ever so slightly for fitment but can’t take credit for the design itself

Opinions!?
 
I've been thinking about putting an oil temp gauge in there so I'd be interested to see how it looks fitted.

Thanks, I'm going to fix the part in place, and give it a resin coat so it's more flush in it's place over the weekend hopefully. Will keep this post updated
 
It looks as if it could be useful. Not many people smoke in cars these days so an ashtray has turned into an oddment tray anyway ! You lose the 12V outlet but that is locatable elsewhere, how much depth does this give as the average 52mm gauge tends to be quite deep?

About 20-30mm in depth, potentially 50mm depending on how it fits/mounts

That's NOT the original
They've just 'stolen' the file from thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3166259), 3D Printed it, and selling it. (You can see the layer lines in the pics too)
 
For what it's worth - I still have this! I've lost track of who I was meant to post it to, I was giving it away but just asked for postage cost to be covered - I never received the postage costs so presumed they no longer wanted it.

It's going in the bin at the weekend if no one wants it
 
2 looks weird, gotta have 3. perfect for oil px, water temp and volts..

Just to let everyone know, [ref]agrimes1989[/ref] has PM'd & paid postage so that Ash tray has now gone :thumbsup:
