As an ex member of the fuzz, this is a great thread. This sounds like Tim felt there was room to move into the space and the lorry driver had decided he wasn't letting him in. Mixture of understanding other motorists needs and a bit of consideration has got lost somewhere in the mix.
Either way, the artic was playing a dangerous game. One press of the horn should be enough to let someone know you're not impressed and even then, that can be inflammatory.
Also, if anyone think that getting out for a "chat" isn't going to escalate into a punch up, they are very naive. Unless you are willing to get involved on a full scale punch up on the street and ultimately being arrested for a road rage offence, I would stay in the car until you absolutely have no choice.
