I know my paintwork is not the best in the world, and the front end is covered in what looks like dust but is actually thousands of pin-prick stone chips - but that's what I get for doing 25k a year in it. However, up until now it had not had any dents/dings in it.

It's now lost it's ding/dent virginity, and the strange things is that I don't know how it happened. It wasn't there when I parked it on Friday night, it wasn't there on Saturday afternoon, but it was there at 8am on Sunday morning. Yet the car had not moved since Saturday afternoon.

Ah well, just another reason for a front-end respray next year.

From most angles it looks like a little scrape, but from the driver's seat you can see the indentations.

Any one of those scenarios could be true, but I'm happy enough to think it was something blown from our roof overnight as it got quite windy.

I was planning for a front-end respray anyway, so will cover it up as best I can (rust-stop and touch-up paint) and then carry on with the respray when I get around to it.

My front end is the same, peppered with little dots that I am slowly learning to live with :(

As you say though, bit of touch up and it will just niggle a little till you get it fixed as planned.

Has someone thrown a stone at it?

That's not a stone, looks more like a brick.

That's really pants & in my book far worse than car park rash, as seems someone has gone out of their way to do it on purpose in a place you'd see it all the time. Some sad ...ers out there.

It does look like a simple repair and I admire your attitude but I'de be in blood feud mode, probably heading for a coronary :x

Bummer! Feel bad for ya.
But you have the right attitude. When handed lemons, Make lemonade.

I've always been of the opinion hat it's not worth getting an ulcer over something I can't do anything about.

Now, someone cutting me up on a roundabout and I'll give them a good piece of my mind before putting my foot down and screaming out of there sideways

I had damage like that one morning on my old RX8, it was debris blown from the roof.. looked just like yours. I lived with it for a few weeks but like you I could see it from the drivers seat...Drove me mad...until it was sorted..

Call me nieve but i dont think its malicious damage.. Surely easier and less easy to get caught to key it.

Something must have gotten blown over on it... It was windy enough last night in the storms.
