Arrgh! Chewing gum

Brand new floor mats ($70 from BMW Mini of San Francisco, shipped). Went to run an errand, stepped in chewing gum. Just wanted to complain a bit before carefully cleaning it out and spraying 303 fabric protectant on them. :cry:
 
Heard freezing gum is a good way of removing. Try putting the mat in the chest freezer :thumbsup:
 
I have tar on beige mats. Am thinking lots of paper and a luke warm iron?
 
Do not use an iron !! - you will melt the synthetic carpet even on cool setting. Would a clay bar lift most of it off ? maybe WD-40 and then a carpet cleaner? Other than that I'd get black mats :rofl:
 
I would try freezing the gum, as it works very successfully with gum on clothes, so don't see why it wouldn't work with gum on a carpet
 
Easiest way to freeze the gum is place an ice cube on it. you can literally tear or crack it off once solid. When at room temp of course it just smears and further embeds

In the past, I've had success (on clothes) with the freezing spray used by plumbers
